Service Description: The Marion County Geology Map - An online GIS focusing on the geology of Marion County, in central Indiana. Marion county is located in the physigraphic province known as the Central Till Plain Region. This region is characterized by thick deposits of pre-Wisconsin and Wisconsin glacial materials that overlie bedrock. The character of these glacial and bedrock materials affects a wide variety of environmental conditions, including the availability of drinking water and building materials, the character of the landscape and land use. This map provides a wide range of geologic information for Marion County, including bedrock geology, bedrock topography, glacial geology, hydrogeologic settings and aquifer sensitivity.
